Melvyn Kettle PhD MSc BA (Hons) CEng MIEE FIMgt MEWI has been involved with issues of employment with respect to people with disabilities since 1975. He is the only authorised trainer in Europe for the range of vocational assessment tests developed by Valpar International Corporation and is authorised by the US Department of Labor to administer the General Aptitude Test Battery. He also holds the British Psychological Society's Certificate of Competence in Occupational Testing. He has lectured on vocational assessment and has run numerous training courses in the UK and Europe on the use of Valpar assessment tests.

He was co-editor of a book entitled 'Employers' Guide to Disabilities' and has written various papers and articles on the employment of people with disabilities. He is a former member of the National Advisory Council for the Employment of Disabled People which was a major advisory body to government.

In 1990, whilst a Senior Research Fellow at the Rheumatology and Rehabilitation Research Unit, University of Leeds, he established and ran a vocational assessment unit for young people with disabilities.

Dr Kettle is an accredited Single Joint Expert, a Member of the Expert Witness Institute, and is registered in the Law Society's Directory of Expert Witnesses 2001.
